About the Author

Dave Skocik holds a masters degree in communication from Temple University and is nationally accredited by the Public Relations Society of America, for which he’s served as a state chapter president, Mid-Atlantic District Chair, and as a national educational affairs committee member.

While state PRSA president in 1997, he chartered and advised the organization's student chapter at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware.

His 25 years + experience in public relations working with diverse audiences is broad and includes 11 years as executive director of college relations and assistant professor of communication at Wesley College, in addition to owning a PR consulting business.

He co-authored "The Air Controller's Controversy," about the 1981 air traffic controllers' strike, which was republished in 2006. Dave has also served in the military as a journalist and public affairs specialist. In January 2005 he was chosen as the military parade announcer for the White House reviewing booth at President Bush’s inauguration.

Experienced in electronic media, he has been a radio announcer and has co-produced and hosted an award-winning TV quiz show for Delaware high school students since 1987.

Dave has served in many public service organizations in Delaware and is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.

Perhaps most relevant to many of his business clients is that he’s been a mechanical contractor and understands the challenges involved in running a small business and effectively communicating with the public.
